Hi there! I’m Amanda, and I like helping people understand themselves better.

I’ve always been interested in human behavior- What drives our choices? What makes us who we are? How can our behavior evolve and improve our lives?

My interest in human behavior continued when I began my career as a respiratory therapist in 2007, and also during my time as an enlisted member of the United States Army. During my time in the Army, I had the opportunity to counsel other soldiers and received specialized training in conflict management, psychological operations, negotiation, and risk mitigation. During the Covid-19 pandemic, while working as a clinical educator for a large hospital system, I made the decision to pursue a career as a professional counselor.

I enjoy working with women, children, military families, active duty military/veterans, and first responders. I am particularly passionate about supporting women & girls in all stages of life- through normal life transitions, bumps in the road, and significant struggles. My passion for supporting women and girls stems from my own life experiences and the lack of easily accessible, specialized support. I initially became aware of this unique problem when struggling with unexplained infertility, IVF, and pregnancy loss. I also witnessed this need first hand multiple times during my professional career.

I’m currently a graduate intern in the clinical mental health counseling program at Grand Canyon University. I am completing my internship at Balanced Wellness, under the supervision of Dr. Theresa Roman, PsyD, and Hannah Mills, LISW-CP. I am available in-person at our Irmo, SC office, and also virtually for clients in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida.

Outside of the therapy world, you can catch me trying to keep my plants alive, collecting spooky and bizarre trinkets, and spending time with my family. Originally from Texas, I’ve lived all over the United States. In the spring of 2024, life brought me to South Carolina, where I settled in the Columbia area.
